May 1, 2017 – On this day in Major League Baseball history, in the year 1991, two records were set. 1) Nolan Ryan tossed his seventh and final no-hitter. 2) Rickey Henderson stole his 939th base to surpass Lou Brock’s stolen base record.
Baseball is odd like that. Some things you see coming (there was no doubt that Rickey would take the record) and others you don’t (who has ever predicted a no-hitter?). There’s no knowing what’s in store on a given day in baseball, or at a particular game.
Here at Baseball Rewatch, we provide you with a daily list of the best MLB games played each day. But unlike sports highlight and news sites, you won’t find any spoilers here. We like to leave in the mystery, while pointing you towards those games with the most pizzazz, panache, chicanery, or intrigue. Here are the best of the best from this first day of May.
